Along my IF journey and in struggling with recurrent miscarriage, I have found the research and Ted Talks (as well as youtube videos) of vulnerability researcher Brene Brown to be kind, gentle, sometimes funny and always inspirational.
It was so nice to see this cartoon by Brene Brown posted by Lydia Seeks Bebe http://lydiaseeksbebe.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/empathy-vs-sympathy/comment-page-1/#comment-204, which eloquently and compassionately captures what’s wrong with those stupid comments we’ve all received from doctors, friends, family when our hearts are breaking and our souls are leaking out our eyes.
If interested in the Joy and Gratitude research findings, as discussed (briefly and not overly technically) by Brene Brown, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IjSHUc7TXM
For the (much longer but fascinating) Ted talk by Brene Brown on the power of vulnerability – if you only have a couple of minutes, watch the opening, she’s hilarious – go here: http://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability.html
Short post today – just passing on the kindness from Lydia and Brene. Good day, all!
